The Roots “Dear God 2.0” (Monsters of Folk remake)

?uestlove announced a new single from The Roots via Twitter this past weekend, a song that will be the official debut single from The Roots forthcoming album How I Got Over, an album that is sure to be one of the groups most eclectic albums yet.

The band who have been backing Jimmy Fallon since his nighttime talk show debut in spring of 2009, have clearly made many new friends through the quality music programming featured during the nightly show, influencing the sound of their new album.

“Dear God 2.0” is a remake of the Monsters of Folk original, a group side project of My Morning Jacket’s front man Jim James.  Jim James re-sings the vocals on this new version, along with vocals by Black Thought touching on subjects of the struggling economy and prescription drug use, over a reworked drum track by ?uestlove.
