Melanie Fiona + ?uestlove & The Illaphonics “The Bridge Remixed” (session footage)

melaniefiona_questlove

Toronto’s Melanie Fiona leveled the MOD Club last week with an outstanding show – an album release performance presented by FLOW 93.5, thus a majority of the attendees were FLOW listeners to won an opportunity to see the show, among a gang of industry folk including Kardinal in the house, along with pretty much all of the Black Jays crew.

Fiona’s album dropped in Canada on June 30th, but doesn’t receive US and international release until August 18, so in between time Fiona and ?uestlove (one of her newest best fans) have recorded a remix project to her album The Bridge, appropriately entitled The Bridge Remixed.¬† ?uest (drums of course) and the Illphonics (Adam Blackstone – bass, Randy Bowland – guitar, and Eric Wortham – keys) are cooking up the project with Fiona which should be available for download soon.

Take a listen to the first officially released live remix of “Ay Yo” below.

In addition check out footage of the following songs in live video taken from a studio session where there Melanie & The Illphonics performed some of their remixes to The Bridge, in addition to a dope little cover of Yeezy’s “Heatless”. “Monday Morning” gets my vote as best of the remixes thus far, and the bosa vibe to the drums on the “Ay Yo” remix is sick!

Also, check out a great interview CONTRA TV did with Melanie on her most recent visit to Toronto.
