Mixtape: J. Period The [Abstract] Best, Vol. 1

theabstractbest_vol1

With the slew of mixtapes out these days, it’s the rare case where you actually find a really creative concept behind the mixtape.  J. Period is about to unleash one of those mixtapes that requires as much room in your album catalogue as an official full length CD, a tribute to Q-Tip entitled The [Abstract] Best, Vol. 1.

J. Period has rounded up the likes of Talib Kweli, De La Soul, Black Thought, Questlove, Consequence, Kid Cudi, Busta Rhymes, Pharoahe Monch, Zion I, Skillz, Black Sheep, and Blu to re-create classic Tribe and Q-Tip material.  Check out two samples of these track refixes below.

The mixtape also includes exclusive interviews and brand new tracks.

The mixtape follows a J. Period created Q-Tip For President mixtape created to tribute Obama, which received over 100,000 downloads.

The [Abstract] Best, Vol. 1 will be available for download sometime today (February 10th) at www.jperiod.com.
