ATTN: Grant-writing Turntablists

Through the c/c radio community, I heard recently that the Ontario Arts Council (OAC) is trying to get the word out to emerging, mid-career and established Media Artists.

Their Media and Visual Arts Officer, Mark Haslam, is reaching out to turnatablists with the message that their cutting and scratching might be fund-able audio art.

Have you ever delved into the world of writing grants for artistic endeavors? Well, it ain’t all roses, but the “emerging” artists can apply for up to $10,000 and the “established” can get up to $30,000.

Plus, I’d love to see other provincial arts programs get jealous of Ontario’s many DJs.

The next deadline for emerging artists is November 17.
