Nova’s Los Angeles: Chuck D B-Day / Ghostface / Sneaker Pimps

AUGUST 1st 2008. The born day hip-hop preacher Carlton Douglas Ridenhour…

Also, the day of the SNEAKER PIMPS L.A party…

Also, the day of the Public Enemy & Ghostface concert…

When the jumping, fist pumping and gunshot licking subsided, I manages to snag a few pictures of the vibe. The party went long and late. As always the sneakers were fresh to def and P.E did it up ‘birthday style’ performing the ENTIRE album of “It Takes A Nation Of Millions…”.

I think the word to describe it is ‘fiyah’. yes, fiyah, exactally.

crowd cameo: Michael Rapaport (aka Remy aka Thomas Dunwitty aka Donald Self)

Due to the lengthy P.E set, Ghostface came on at 2 a.m when most heads had left the building and only a third of the weary audience remained. Ghost came out, beach towel around his neck and 4 hypehypeHYYYPE men behind him. He did 3 tracks, cussed out the promoters for putting him on so late, and then let the audience sing the rest. I split after the “Fishscale” B-sides got rolled out.
