Gnarls Barkley 3-weeks early…?

Gnarls Barkley

Well, Gnarls Barkley it seem is being fast-tracked, and was released without much warning for digital purchase this past Tuesday.  The disc hits shelves next Tuesday, March 25, well ahead of it’s slated release date of April 8.

This is a likely result of the album being leaked within the past couple weeks (not sure exactly when as we don’t sit here waiting on the download sites).

According to the group the reasoning is…

“They felt the timing was right to just go for it,” said an unnamed spokesman for the band. “With the shifting seasons, furtive romantic entanglements and fierce college basketball rivalries, the latter half of March can be confusing. People need to be soothed and inspired now.”

I seems as if there was literally no set-up for this album – even if it had dropped on the slated date – I’ve seen little in terms of active promo/marketing for this album, other than a creative video featuring Justin Timberlake to get your average joe talking.  Even then, the video only debuted in the US on MTV’s TRL on March 6, only a month pre-album release.

Here’s a second cut off the album that originally ?uestlove leaked doing a little video lip-synch over it – or – you can just download the whole thing on iTunes now…haha.

Not sure when Atlanti/Warner will end up getting us a copy, probably not until the former release date at this rate, but keep an eye open for a review of The Odd Couple at the soon to be re-launched www.thecyberkrib.com.

  1. Great Track, I dont know why they released it soo early, I bet probably because it was going to get leaked…and if it did..momentum would of been lost…
