DC emcee Wale officially inks with Interscope

It’s not often that an emcee coming up in the DC go-go scene gains national and international acclaim. Wale has done exactly that.

In a very fast two-year span Wale has gone from go-go track appearances in the DC/Maryland area, to unsigned praise from the likes of Young Guru, Just Blaze, Jay-Z, and most notably Mark Ronson.

Ronson signed Wale to a production deal in June 2007 through his label Allido Records, and on March 12, 2008 Wale officially confirmed the inking of a deal with Interscope Records on DC radio station WKYS.

Ronson will act as executive producer of Wale’s debut album, with rumoured production contributions from Pharrell, Just Blaze, Kanye West and 9th Wonder, in addition to collaborations with Rhymefest and fellow Allido roster member Daniel Merriweather.

Check out the following Mark Ronson remake of “All I Need” featuring Wale and spectacular UK on-the-rise vocalist Tawiah (also back-up singer for Amy Winehouse).
