Ras Kass: a look at one of the illest

Ras Kass

Soul On Ice by Ras Kass is still one of my all-time favorite records. The depth of this emcee back in 1996 was astonishing – back in an era before superlyrical emceeing was the norm, before complex underground emcees who could rhyme about their latest chemistry experiment or computer program existed.

As of October 2007 Ras is free of his long term label and under management with Asti Management (Styles P, DJ Kid Capri). Now that he can rhyme freely and without bars in front of him, hopefully he’ll enlist some dope beatmakers and get the new album together.

Until then, take a look at this great piece done on Ras, with a number of freestyle radio appearances, including a Stretch & Bobbito classic, and sit-ins on Halftime Show (DJ Eclipse), and Hot97 appearance.

Something recent from Ras Kass “Butterfly Effect”…
