U-N-I bring a “Beautiful Day” [video]

The following video continues my opinion that the current West Coast surge of underground hip hop has really kept the true hip hop essence alive. East Coast and Mid-West hip hop has its emcees and producers keeping things alive, but the sense of vibrancy has been missing. Maybe it’s the dreary weather via Global Warming that has soured the mood of East Coast hip hop, but it’s a character I still see alive in much of the West Coast music that I enjoy.

The Inglewood, CA based duo of Thurzday and Y-O just released their debut street album Fried Chicken and Watermelon, which features a fresh cast of new face producers Swiff D, Ro Blvd, Moufahza, Pro Mic, Diabolic and Dame Taylor.

Other West Coast cats to check for: Giant Panda, Blu & Exile, People Under The Stairs, Blue Scholars, Percussions, Crown City Rockers, and more.

Props to LesSmack Film on a super fresh video.
