The UK duo of Hil St. Soul return this spring with their third LP entitled Black Rose.
Singer Hilary Mwelwa and producer Victor Redwood Sawyerr comprise the group Hil St. Soul (Hill Street Soul), who debuted on the (neo) soul scene in 2004 with the album Copasetik & Cool, followed by SOULidified in 2006. Both albums gained solid attention overseas in North America, with top 20 hits on Urban AC charts, as well as video rotation on VH1 Soul and BETJ.
Any fans of Jill Scott’s debut Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds, Vol. 1 will likely enjoy the groove and non-overproduced nature of Hil St. Soul, with Mwelwa’s sweet crisp vocals.
Producer Victor Redwood Sawyerr was also the founder of UK hip hop group Blak Twang.
Black Rose is slated for April 29 release through Shanachie Entertainment.
